a star is born, Andreina Restaurant, Loreto, Le Marche

FIRST MICHELIN STAR!

In the Marche, a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, Errico Recanati and his historic restaurant Andreina in Loreto (AN) each year invent an exclusive menu, strictly based on Acqualagna truffles. The dances start with a Liquid pancake, robiola foam and truffles, then a Burrata soup with balls of pheasant, foie gras and white truffle. The soul is moved; the smell is overheated and excited by the intelligence components of the magic tuber. The truffle likes and dislikes, turn passions or drives them away with power: is pure instinct of love. The taste ballet continues with the Noodles flavored with lemon and cooked in capon and truffle broth. Here then the guinea fowl cooked with lemon, hazelnut oil and truffle. Now mind and body are ecstatic, excited and waiting for flushing the sweet conclusion: the legendary and delicious white Acqualagna truffles ice cream with meringues, candied chestnuts and sour cherries. Errico Recanati is a truffle poet, which can cook this rare fruit of the earth as an imaginative acrobat.

A tavola

"L’été, pour le déjeuner, je prépare souvent un carpaccio di verdure, une recette de mon ami Andrea Tantucci, chef du restaurant Il Maiale Volante situé à quelques kilomètres de chez nous. J’émince quelques courgettes, carottes et cœurs d’artichauts ultrafrais du marché, que j’arrose simplement d’un trait de
jus de citron et d’un filet d’huile d’olive de la maison, marinée au thym."

From Le Marche, Obama to get reelection gift weighing more than a kilo

A small Italian village of Le Marche renowned for its white truffles announced Saturday it would give US President Barack Obama a record specimen weighing in at more than a kilo as a reelection present.
"A 1.012-kg truffle from Acqualagna will be gifted to the President of the United States Barack Obama to celebrate his reelection," the local authorities said in a statement.
The truffle, a rare subterranean mushroom prized in haute cuisine, is to be delivered to the United States on November 18 and Acqualagna officials said they hoped Obama would show up in person to pick up his gift.
"The first American president to receive an Acqualagna truffle was Harry Truman in 1956. The latest dignitary to have received it was Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the town's mayor, Andrea Pierotti, said.
The price per kilo of white truffles has recently shot up to around 3,000 euros (3,800 dollars).
In 2010, a South Korean wine critic bought a 900-gramme truffle for 105,000 euros at a charity event.
Macau billionaire and casino baron Stanley Ho in 2010 paid more than $300,000 for two pieces of the precious tuber at another charity auction.
Local legend has it that the largest-ever find came in 1668 when a man by the name of Filippo Cortesi unearthed a pair of truffles weighing 13 and 18 kilos respectively.

our great architects Markus Wespi and Jerome de Meuron

“I like to remember our first brief to Markus and Jérôme. We came with books and catalogues from Christian Liaigre, B&B Italia or Cote Sud... They listened to us very nicely, sometimes saying ‘yes, we understand...’. Then we got the first drawings of the concept which were amazing but rather different. The capacity to reflect our ideas and to surprise us always positively with their creativity is the proof of their great talent!”

looking forward to being in 2013 to see this again

“We have great restaurants around the house like the wonderful ‘Il Casolare dei Segreti’, 2 minutes from the villa, or the great agriturismo ‘Il Maiale Volante’ and its delicious panacotta with vanilla and apricot syrup... From mid-July to mid-August you can enjoy the second most important open-air opera festival in Macerata. You can spend a day on a heavenly beach in Monte Conero with transparent water and eating Italian sushi from Moreno Cedroni, or hiking in the legendary Sibillini mountains. There are plenty of activities, the most difficult is to leave the infinity pool...”

virtual visit of beautiful exhibition in Cupra Marittima (Le Marche) this morning

Fabiano De Martin Topranin - Return to the forest
On Sunday 23rd September 2012 at 6.00 p.m. Marconi  Gallery of Cupra Marittima and Marche Centro d'Arte are opening the solo exposition by Fabiano De Martin Topranin, one of the winning artists of the first edition of ORA Prize. The project presents a series of works realized by the artist in the last months and specially prepared for the gallery and for its spaces. Some of the most important sculptures of his previous research and the new project Return to the forest will be shown.
The curator of the exhibition, Carolina Lio says:” Fabiano De Martin Toprain gets out of the wood the figures of young contemporary men and their worries often related to the social life and to the challenge with their fragility. His characters suffer from the evil of a liquid society and have, as a result, a character in the making, without a clear definition of the self and which tries to identify through symbols, fashions and combinations with  the others”. All the sculptures are carved in linden with sizes arriving to the natural ones.

They are characterized very little physically or even left in the form of draft and so synthetic that they need to be guessed. The lack of physical characterization of characters makes the various portraits as represantations of a society and of its models instead of specific people.

Particularly in the series  Return to the forest, teenagers in sweatshirt and jeans look for an escape from the urban world and the conquest of a natural world to discover. in order to rediscover themselves. They are often accompanied by tools to work the land as symbols of the awareness they need to realize and build something and to overcome a life of only stereotypes. “They try to arrive at a world no longer fake”, as stated by the same artist, by getting a real contact with it and  feeling themselves as an integral part of it.

a long, long time ago, in 2005...

“We discovered the old farmhouse in 2005, it was the last ruin we visited during our week of house hunting in Le Marche and it was the good one! It took us then 1 year to find the right architects and almost 4 years to complete the renovation which in Italy is always an exciting experience...”

a house with a view

“Our italian friends in Treia are used to say that the house has the best position in Le Marche, on the top of the hills with a panoramic view from the landscape all the way to the adriatic coast. We spend hours admiring this marchigian landscape from the pool or the terrace!”
